Failing While Succeeding

Embarking on a journey of failure and success, I found it hard to connect with people who truly understood my struggles. The memory of my impromptu trip to Costa Rica to meet a potential supplier and manufacturer is still vivid in mind. I was filled with confidence and preparation, but the deal fell through weeks later, leaving me heartbroken and distraught. I was on the verge of an emotional breakdown, which could have led me into a spiral of loneliness and depression. My friends, with stable careers, couldn't comprehend the feeling of failing at chasing your dreams. They thought I was making a reckless decision when I resigned from my position as an Army Officer to venture into entrepreneurship.

After years of navigating this challenging journey alone, I made a conscious decision to seek out accelerators and people who had faced similar hurdles. This choice had a profound impact on my ability to adapt. My new tribe became my pillars of strength, constantly reminding me of my purpose and offering the advice I needed to persevere against all odds. Building this sense of community softened the blows of hard times. This journey of personal growth and resilience led to the birth of Yes Ma'am MeetUp! Inspired by the unwavering support of my tribe, I was driven to create a community that could offer others the same sense of belonging. I firmly believe that everyone deserves a safe space to be vulnerable, imperfect, and exploratory.

Yes, Ma'am, MeetUp is an initiative I developed to connect with like-minded women. In the military, 'Yes Ma'am' is a term of respect or affirmation of something a superior woman has said. Today, I use it to celebrate the remarkable existence of women who dare to become more than society expects. I want to encourage you to say yes—to be the bridge or resource you need to thrive. Saying 'Yes' is not just a word, it's a powerful tool of empowerment. It's a step towards your dreams, your goals, and your success.
